Western Pacific - The Feather River Route
Growing up I lived near the Western Pacific tracks in San Leandro, California. During P.E. class, the California Zephyr sped past our school and I was always glued to the fence watching it. More than one time I got in trouble for not paying attention to whatever sport we were playing at the time as I stood mesmerized by that sleek passenger train.

Later, when I started building model railroads, it was always the Western Pacific. Recently, I had a great experience. I actually got to drive an old, but very cool Western Pacific F7A. The 917D. Built in 1952..(as was I) it was a freight version of the F7s that used to pull the California Zephyr from Oakland, California to Salt Lake City, Utah.
